Seniors Open 2020.

The committee discussed the format for the coming years Seniors Open. The Secretary suggested that we go back to a rolling buffet meal. However, due to costs, weather uncertainty and the fact that the last two years have been good for the Section it was decided that we stick to the same format. Dave Wilson has volunteered to produce adverts using his computer skills whilst the Sec has agreed to assist the Treasurer in producing “Start Lists” for the day.

7

Birch Ward Trophy.

It was agreed that the Birch Ward Trophy will follow the same format as last year.  The trial on start times will be repeated and the competition will be open to all male club members over the age of 55 years. Advertising will be completed by Dave Wilson, “Early Start lists” will be completed by Sec, Roll Up will still take place and some later tee times will be available.

8

Seniors Away Day.

Captain announced Dainton Park 28th April 2020 will be venue at a cost of £25 per member.

9

Any Other Business.

1        Seniors Christmas Dinner invitation at Section expense – Seniors President Brian Norman.

2        After discussion regarding how order of play was decided the following decisions were made.

1.        Draws for Tuesday Roll Ups would no longer be split by handicaps but drawn totally at random.

2.        Were possible, all Team Stableford Roll Ups will be four balls.

3.      The sec has produced a Slow Play Policy using R&A Slow Play Manual as guidance. Discussion by the committee highlighted the need for slow play to be avoided but at this stage the slow play policy seemed a little over powering. However, the following will be trialled first in an effort to speed up play.

1.        Play will not commence until 1032hrs. This should stop play being slowed by first group catching up with ladies in front causing play to slow in later groups.

2.        Players are not to Tee Off on the 1st hole until 2nd Tee is clear. Ensuring the 8 minute tee separation is adhered to as happens in Club competitions/Opens.

3.        Players must adhere to the “Call Up Notice” on the 7th hole and when called up the group behind must play.

4.        If the group in front of you have finished playing the hole that you are about to tee off on or you have a clear hole in front of you. You must consider allowing the group behind to play through especially if you are holding that group up.

5.        If a group in front of you are holding up your game and they have a clear  hole in front of them please report that group to the competition organiser for the day on completion of the round.

6.        If “Called Through” you must accept and play through to enable the speed of play to be maintained.
